Chattanooga, Tennessee—

13-year-old Chattanoogan Akhil Giddaluri, who currently attends McCallie, is representing the Scenic City at this year’s Scripps National Spelling Bee. Akhil competed in the Preliminaries yesterday and will spell in the Quarterfinals today, June 1. Akhil enjoys playing video games with friends, participating in sports, reading, listening to music and playing the violin. Alongside spelling bees, Akhil also participates in chess tournaments as well as some math competitions.
