Five Rotary clubs in the Chattanooga area are joining forces for the first time to host a backpack distribution event aimed at supporting local students. The Oak Grove Backpack Bash is scheduled for this Saturday, July 25, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., at the pavilion and playground of Eastside Elementary School on Lyerly Street.
During the event, volunteers will hand out backpacks filled with school supplies to children in need. The distribution will operate on a first-come, first-served basis and will continue until supplies run out. In addition to the backpacks, attendees can enjoy food and drinks, making it a community-wide celebration.
The event is organized by Chattanooga Neighborhood Enterprise, with backpacks and supplies generously donated by five Rotary clubs: Rotary Rocks Chattanooga, Chattanooga Rotaract, Nooga Nights Rotary, Chattanooga Breakfast Rotary, and Hamilton Place Rotary.
The initiative highlights the impact of community collaboration, with Rotary representatives emphasizing that even small gifts like backpacks can have a significant effect on a child’s confidence and future opportunities. The partnership reflects the Rotary motto of “Service Above Self,” demonstrating how organizations can work together to make a meaningful difference in the lives of Chattanooga’s youth.
