‘The Marvels’ Has Lowest MCU Opening Ever At The Domestic Box Office

The Marvels now claims two titles following its debut at the domestic box office over the weekend. Pulling in $47 million, the film saw the lowest opening ever for the Marvel Cinematic Universe. However, Deadline reports that it also marked the highest opening ever for a Black female director—as Nia DaCosta, who already made history as the first Black female to direct a Marvel movie, topped Ava DuVernay‘s $33 million debut of A Wrinkle in Time in 2018.
