Adam Sandler’s “The Chanukah Song” Was Almost Sung by Another Comedian
It’s hard to imagine anyone but Adam Sandler singing “The Chanukah Song”, but it ALMOST happened with Roseanne Barr. She was the host on “Saturday Night Live” the night it debuted in 1994.
The holiday is typically spelled “Hanukkah”, but the song uses the traditional spelling.
Adam says, quote, “[Roseanne] was nice enough to say ‘No, let Adam do that, that’s his, he wrote it, that’s his song‘.”
He’s thankful the song is still a hit almost 30 years later. Quote, “If it comes on the radio, and I hear it, I get excited, that’s still awesome.”
