CHATTANOOGA, TN – For today’s “In The Know with Gino”, the Chattanooga Area Regional Transportation Authority (CARTA) is set to take part in the annual Share Your Christmas Food Drive this Friday, December 8th. This initiative, spearheaded by CARTA, aims to make a positive impact on the community by encouraging passengers to contribute to those in need.

Veronica Peebles, CARTA’s Director of Communications & Planning, expressed the significance of community support and highlighted the opportunity for individuals to make a difference. On Friday, passengers who bring a canned good or non-perishable food item to any CARTA bus or Care-a-van will be rewarded with a free one-way bus ride.

As a community, we are here to support and help one another, and sharing with others is a great way to do that. As our customers help and support others with their food donations, we want to show them our appreciation for their generosity,” said Ms. Peebles.

This initiative serves as a dual-purpose event, fostering a sense of community involvement while addressing the pressing issue of hunger. By offering free bus rides as a token of appreciation, CARTA hopes to inspire more individuals to contribute to the Share Your Christmas Food Drive.

CARTA has been actively participating in the Share Your Christmas food drive since its inception, demonstrating the organization’s commitment to making a positive impact beyond its role in transportation. The collaboration with the food drive aligns with CARTA’s broader mission of serving the community and making a meaningful difference in the lives of those it connects.

Passengers are encouraged to bring their donations and join CARTA in spreading holiday cheer and support to those who may be facing challenges during this festive season. As the community comes together through initiatives like these, the hope is to create a ripple effect of generosity and kindness that extends beyond the holiday season.
