Dog Therapy Works For Everybody

Chattanooga, Tennessee—(Pulse)
Researchers have finally determined that a dog’s love helps everyone! A University of British Columbia team examined if men, women, and people of other genders all benefitted from dog therapy or not.
163 participants self-selected their gender and reported their feelings before and after canine therapy. Results showed improvements in feelings of well-being and lowered levels of homesickness and loneliness.
This impact was seen regardless of a participant’s gender.
“In light of previous studies that note participants were predominantly women, our sampling of men, genderfluid and two-spirit participants furthers our understanding that the efficacy of these interventions does not appear to be gender dependent,” Dr. John-Tyler Binfet said.
