Keep Soddy-Daisy Beautiful‘s highly anticipated annual Cleanup Challenge is set to commence this Friday, April 19th, marking the beginning of a week-long endeavor to spruce up the community. Running through Thursday, April 25th, residents are encouraged to gather their teams, roll up their sleeves, and join the initiative aimed at tidying up local parks and streets.
The Cleanup Challenge, a staple event organized by Keep Soddy-Daisy Beautiful, coincides with Earth Day, observed globally on April 22nd. The initiative aims to harness community engagement in tackling the pervasive issue of litter across Hamilton County.
Participants can easily get involved by registering their teams online at keepsoddydaisybeautiful.org. Upon registration, teams will receive the necessary supplies to facilitate their cleanup efforts. This includes gloves, bags, and any additional equipment needed to ensure a safe and effective cleaning operation.
Last year’s Cleanup Challenge saw an impressive turnout, with 23 teams comprising nearly 600 volunteers. Their collective efforts resulted in the removal of 354 bags of trash and 207 larger items, including discarded tires, from various locations across Soddy-Daisy.
The impact of the Cleanup Challenge extends beyond the physical cleanup, instilling a sense of responsibility and stewardship among participants. As teams traverse the streets and parks, they not only beautify the landscape but also foster a deeper connection to their environment.
In addition to the satisfaction of contributing to a cleaner community, participants stand a chance to win prizes for their dedication and hard work. A celebratory event will be held post-challenge to recognize the efforts of all involved and express gratitude for their commitment to keeping Soddy-Daisy beautiful.
As the annual Cleanup Challenge draws near, the community of Soddy-Daisy eagerly awaits the opportunity to come together, make a difference, and leave a lasting impact on their beloved hometown.
