You Can Now Get Refunds For Delayed Or Cancelled Flights

Just in time for the Summer travel season, the Department of Transportation announced new “passenger rights”. If your flight has been cancelled or delayed by more than three hours domestically (six hours internationally) you will be entitled to a refund if  do not accept alternative transportation or travel credits. This includes airlines changing your itinerary before the day of your trip.

The DOT is also mandating airlines to give cash refunds on luggage if your bags are lost and not delivered to you within 12 hours. Now these rules do not go in to effect immediately but within the next six months all airlines will be forced to comply.
