Is Ordering Dr. Pepper with Pickles Inside a Thing?

Food News!
TikTok has made life harder for food service employees, with menu hacks, viral requests, and pranks, which are caught on camera and then passed around online. So is this a real THING… or a JOKE?
A TikTok’er named “Mississippi Memaw” posted a clip where she went through the drive-thru of a Sonic, and only ordered “a large Dr. Pepper … with pickles.”
The clerk didn’t seem surprised. She just noted that the added pickles would appear on the order as “cherries.”
Apparently ordering a Dr. Pepper with pickles is “normal” enough that a worker didn’t seem phased by it but ABNORMAL enough that the computer system wasn’t programmed to have an option for adding pickles to a soda.
Sure enough, the woman receives a large Dr. Pepper with a handful of pickles inside. She says it may sound gross, but, quote, “Don’t knock it until you try it.” She also said that “a lot of people drink this.”
Watch the video above. And here’s an amusing follow-up video where she defends paying $3.62 for a Dr. Pepper with pickles. It does sound like she’s legit, and isn’t pulling a fast-one on the internet.
First of all, I need to go to a Sonic in Mississippi if that’s where this is… because that’s the friendliest fast-food clerk EVER.
If the worker wasn’t prepped for this ahead of time, maybe it IS a thing, because not only did the worker not bat an eye, the woman asked for a Dr. Pepper with pickles, not pickles INSIDE, and yet the person just understood exactly what she wanted.
In the comments, some people claimed they’ve had it before and it’s a thing…some say it’s a variation of a Dr. Pepper Pucker or a Witch Doctor.
But others say they went to a Sonic to try it, but the worker they got had NEVER heard of it and was confused, and one person was told they couldn’t do that.
In any event, most people seem to think it actually tastes good.
