Blood Assurance is facing a severe shortage of O-negative blood, with only 10 units available as of Tuesday. O-negative blood is crucial in emergency situations where the patient’s blood type is unknown, making it indispensable for life-saving treatments.

The nonprofit organization is urgently appealing to donors of all blood types to step forward and schedule an appointment. Despite the ongoing need, donor turnout has significantly declined in recent months, exacerbating the shortage.

To show their gratitude, Blood Assurance is offering an exclusive “Save 3 Lives” tote bag to all who donate blood this month. This gesture serves as a small token of appreciation for the invaluable contribution of each donor.

Potential donors can schedule an appointment by visiting bloodassurance.org/schedule, calling 800-962-0628, or texting BAGIVE to 999777.

To be eligible, donors must be at least 17 years old (or 16 with parental consent), weigh a minimum of 110 pounds, and be in good health. It is recommended that donors hydrate well—avoiding caffeine—and consume an iron-rich meal before donating.
