In The Know with Gino…
Starting tomorrow, February 7th, the Girl Scouts of Southern Appalachians will kick off their eagerly anticipated public cookie booth sales across the region, providing sweet treats and important life lessons for girls involved in the program.
Clad in their signature vests, Girl Scouts will be stationed outside popular retailers such as grocery stores and restaurants, making it easy for cookie enthusiasts to support their local troops. This annual sales event not only satisfies sweet cravings but also serves a greater purpose—equipping girls with vital skills such as goal setting, money management, and decision-making.
The cookie sales are a crucial fundraising effort, generating approximately 70% of the resources necessary for various Girl Scout initiatives, including service projects and summer camp opportunities. Each box of cookies is priced at $6, and this year’s lineup features fan favorites like Tagalongs®, Thin Mints®, Samoas®, and the last chance to grab the beloved Girl Scout S’mores®.

In addition to traditional offerings, the selection also includes vegan and gluten-free options, ensuring there’s something for everyone. The full cookie palette for the East Tennessee region boasts favorites such as Adventurefuls®, Do-si-dos®, Lemon-Ups®, and Trefoils®, alongside the classics.
The Girl Scout Cookie Program stands as one of the largest girl-led entrepreneurial initiatives in the world, fostering not only sales skills but also creating opportunities for memorable adventures and educational experiences for Girl Scouts.
As stated by the mission of the Girl Scouts of Southern Appalachians, the organization aims to cultivate girls of courage, confidence, and character who are determined to improve their communities. This cookie program is pivotal to that mission, enabling participants to finance their activities, from camp to travel to STEM projects.
