The Chattanooga Area Regional Transportation Authority (CARTA) is embarking on an effort to reimagine its iconic downtown shuttle route, and it’s calling on the community to help shape the future of this vital service.

For over three decades, CARTA has operated a FREE electric shuttle that circles downtown Chattanooga, providing convenient transportation from the Chattanooga Choo Choo on Market Street to the Tennessee Aquarium on Broad Street. The current route features a loop with stops on every block, making it easy for residents and visitors alike to navigate the city’s core.

However, as Chattanooga continues to grow and develop—particularly in areas like the Stadium District, M.L. King Boulevard, and Main Street—CARTA is looking to upgrade its service to better meet the needs of the community. The revamped shuttle is envisioned to allow riders to visit all major downtown destinations without the need to switch lines or make multiple stops.

To gather community input, CARTA has launched an online survey and an interactive map, open until this Sunday. The survey takes approximately five minutes to complete and invites residents to share their ideas on how the new service should look and function.

CARTA is committed to creating a transportation network that is accessible, efficient, and tailored to the needs of all residents. Community members can participate in the survey and provide their input online.

As Chattanooga evolves, the city’s transit system is poised to adapt—driven by community voices and a vision for a more connected future.
