The winter weather has significantly impacted the blood supply in the region, prompting Blood Assurance to call on community members to donate blood and help meet ongoing hospital needs.

In a recent Facebook post, the organization highlighted the challenges posed by icy roads, closures, and disrupted plans, which have slowed blood collection efforts. Despite these obstacles, the demand for blood in local hospitals remains steady and urgent.

While so much has slowed down, the need for blood in our hospitals hasn’t,” the post stated. “This weather has been tough on our area: icy roads, closures, and disrupted plans and it’s taken a toll on our local blood supply too.”

To encourage donations during this critical time, Blood Assurance is offering a $40 e-gift card to all donors, regardless of blood type, who give blood through Saturday, January 31st. Donors are welcome to walk in or schedule an appointment at bloodassurance.org.

The organization emphasized that every donation can save lives, urging the community to “not let the supply freeze.” With community support, Blood Assurance aims to keep a steady flow of lifesaving blood available for local patients, no matter the weather.

Patients in our community still need lifesaving blood every day, and your donation can make all the difference,” the post concluded. “Together, we can keep lifesaving blood flowing no matter the weather.”

For those interested in donating, walk-ins are welcome, and appointments can be conveniently scheduled online.
