In The Know with Gino…

White Oak Bicycle Co-Op is strengthening its longstanding collaboration with Metropolitan Ministries to offer consistent, on-site bicycle repair services, aiming to improve reliable transportation for residents across the Chattanooga region. This expansion comes after the organization has distributed more than 3,100 bicycles, primarily used for commuting to work, school, and essential services.

Until now, repair services were mainly provided through mobile pop-up events, which, while helpful, lacked a permanent location. The new partnership establishes a dedicated repair station at Metropolitan Ministries’ campus on Rossville Boulevard, staffed by experienced bicycle mechanics and equipped with professional tools and parts. Repairs will be available weekly on Wednesdays from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., providing a reliable and accessible resource for community members.

The initiative aims to ensure that bicycles, which serve as primary transportation for many, remain safe and functional, reducing the risk of breakdowns that could hinder access to jobs, schools, and services. The focus on proactive maintenance reflects a shift toward supporting ongoing transportation needs rather than one-time distributions.

This partnership underscores a community-driven effort to keep people moving and enhance quality of life through reliable, affordable transportation options. To learn more about White Oak Bicycle Co-Op go to whiteoakbicycle.org
