The Creative Discovery Museum is bringing back its popular Day of Play event, promising another lively celebration of creativity and community. Scheduled for Saturday, May 9th, from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., the event will take over Chestnut Street, transforming the area into a bustling outdoor block party.

Last year marked a special milestone as the museum celebrated three decades of inspiring young minds through play. The success of that event led organizers to revive the festivities this year, offering families a fun-filled, FREE day of activities.

Attendees can enjoy a variety of hands-on art and STEM activities spread along Chestnut Street, fostering learning through play. The event also provides opportunities to connect with local organizations, including the Chattanooga Public Library, Tennessee Aquarium, and Chattanooga Lookouts, among others.

Throughout the day, LIVE performances from the Chattanooga Theater Center and Pop Up Project will entertain visitors, adding to the festive atmosphere. In celebration of the museum’s opening day back in 1995, the event features throwback ticket prices—$4.95 for children 12 and under and $7.95 for adults.

Food trucks will be on-site offering a range of tasty options, including Taste of China, Cotton Candy Queens, and Greg’s Sandwich Works. Visitors can also enjoy lunch at the nearby Hilton Garden Inn.

While the block party is FREE to attend and open to the community, entry into the museum itself requires admission, which can be purchased on-site. For more details about the event, families are encouraged to visit cdmfun.org.
