You Can Now Build an A.I. Recreation of Your Ex
There’s a strange new breakup trend making headlines overseas. A growing number of people in China are using an A.I. program called “ex.skill” to build digital versions of their former partners. Users upload things like old texts, pictures, voice notes, and social media posts. The A.I. then recreates an ex’s personality, speech patterns, and shared memories.
The creators say it’s meant for personal reflection and emotional healing . . . not stalking or harassment. But critics are worried it could create major privacy issues . . . especially since someone’s personal data could be used without their permission.
Still, some users say the A.I. versions actually helped them move on. One person wrote, “I was finally able to say everything I’d been hesitant to say, and it made me feel better.”
