Preventing After School Meltdowns

It is the first day of school and even though you made it through the morning, you now have to prepare for the first school night. If you are a veteran parent you may have experienced a few after school melt downs and believe it or not there is an actual term for it: after school restraint collapse. This is typically caused by exhaustion and over stimulation. To prevent a melt down try these three things:

  1. Allow your child to have some quite time and refrain from asking questions the moment you see them.
  2. Provide them a snack and a drink.
  3. Allow them to have some fun outside
