NAMIWalks, the flagship fundraising event of the National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI), is set to kick off its 2026 season with a community gathering in Chattanooga. The kickoff event will be held on Wednesday, August 19th, starting at 5:30 p.m. at Events By Feed, located at 201 West Main Street.

This event marks the beginning of a nationwide series of walks aimed at promoting mental health awareness and reducing stigma. NAMI officials emphasize that NAMIWalks is among the largest and most energetic mental health events in the country, bringing together communities to support mental health initiatives.

Participants, volunteers, and supporters gather through NAMIWalks to raise crucial funds that support FREE mental health programs, including support groups, educational classes, and advocacy efforts. The event also serves as a platform for sharing stories of hope and fostering a sense of community among those affected by mental health conditions.

The theme for the 2026 walk, “Together, We Are NAMIWalks,” highlights the strength found in collective action—bringing together individuals, families, and communities committed to mental health support and emphasizing that no one has to face these challenges alone.

The Chattanooga kickoff will feature light refreshments, various activities, and informational resources about NAMI Chattanooga and the upcoming walk. The event is FREE and open to the public, but attendees are asked to RSVP by August 14th via email at Operations@NamiChattanooga.org.

The main event, NAMIWalks Chattanooga, presented by BlueCross BlueShield of Tennessee, is scheduled for Sunday afternoon, October 4th, at Coolidge Park. Those interested in participating can sign up at NAMIWalks.org/Chattanooga.

Funds raised through NAMIWalks directly support NAMI’s mission to provide education, advocacy, and support for individuals and families impacted by mental health conditions, ensuring they have access to vital resources.
