Cheat Sheet

It’s Wednesday, which means another night of trivia is here in the Scenic City!

Here’s 5 more completely random facts that could give you the edge you need… assuming, of course, that your trivia host actually asks about any of them.

Welcome to this week’s Hits 96 Trivia Cheat Sheet — your weekly dose of random knowledge, questionable usefulness, and potential bragging rights.

Will these five facts help you win tonight? Maybe.
Will they at least give you something interesting to bring up at dinner? Absolutely!

Here are this week’s 5 facts! Click for the source!

  1. The word with the most meanings in English is “set,” with 430 meanings listed in the Oxford English Dictionary.  The word has the longest entry in the dictionary at 60,000 words, or 326,000 characters.

  2. Pixar has been around for 40 years, after being founded in February of 1986.  Their first feature was “Toy Story” in 1995 . . . but their first short film was “Luxo Jr.” in 1986.  That’s the one about the desk lamp that is now Pixar’s logo.

  3. Speaking of the original “Toy Story” in 1995, it was the first feature-length movie made entirely with computer imagery.

  4. American microbiologist Maurice Hilleman is credited with developing EIGHT of the 14 routine vaccinations used today, including Hepatitis A and B, Haemophilus influenzae type B (Hib), Chickenpox, and Measles, Mumps, and Rubella (MMR).  He also discovered that Chlamydia was not a virus as it was previously thought to be.

  5. There’s been one Tinder match in Antarctica.  An American scientist in Antarctica used Tinder in 2013 . . . and found a female scientist a 45-minute helicopter ride away.  They both swiped right . . . but she left Antarctica the day after they met up.

Now go forth, impress your teammates, and make them wonder how you know all this stuff!
