Downtown Chattanooga is set to welcome a new culinary destination to Market Street, as Bamboo on Market prepares to open in the former Taco Mac location. This will be the second branch for Bamboo, which has been serving customers in Birmingham since 2015.
The expansion came about after local restaurant owners approached Bamboo’s founder, Bernie Smith, about bringing the concept to Chattanooga. Smith expressed enthusiasm for the opportunity to introduce the restaurant to the city’s vibrant food scene.
The new Bamboo on Market is expected to energize a prominent storefront on Market Street and add to the array of dining options available downtown.
The restaurant’s presence is anticipated to boost activity on the block, offering residents, visitors, and workers a fresh place to dine and socialize.
Bamboo on Market promises to be more than just a sushi spot. Its menu will feature a diverse range of shareable plates, fresh salads, and hearty noodle bowls inspired by cuisines from the Philippines, China, Nepal, and other regions. Patrons can also enjoy a selection of premium wines, house cocktails, and sake, making it a well-rounded dining experience.
The new restaurant is slated to open in early 2027 at 423 Market Street, offering dinner service six days a week. Its arrival marks a continued push to elevate the street-level vibrancy and economic vitality of downtown Chattanooga.
