This Weekend The Gold Horizon Connects Chattanooga Youth With Careers and Learning Opportunities

Students and families will have two opportunities this week to explore educational programs, career pathways and creative activities in downtown Chattanooga.

More than 60 students in grades 9–12 from Howard High School and Chattanooga Girls Leadership Academy are expected at STEAM Challenge Day on Friday, October 2nd, at Miller Park. The event will include an exhibit fair focused on STEAM careers and academic pathways, along with art activities, live performances, games and music.

The Gold Horizon, the event’s host organization, aims to introduce students to future opportunities through engaging, interactive programming. Exhibitors are expected to include S.E.E.D., the Tennessee Aquarium, Blue Sky Tennessee, the Tivoli Theatre Foundation and the Audubon Society.

The following day, Saturday, October 3rd, the Downtown Public Library will host the FREE On the Horizon Resource Fair from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Open to the public, the fair will connect families with local tutoring, mentorship, STEAM, arts, camp and career-exploration programs, as well as other learning opportunities outside school.

Both events are being produced through River City Company’s Emerging Producers Program, which provides education, support and mentorship to new event organizers developing experiences in downtown Chattanooga. River City Company and the Lyndhurst Foundation are sponsoring the events.
