The Tennessee River Rescue Returns This Saturday, October 3rd!

If you’ve ever looked at the Tennessee River and thought, “Man, somebody should probably clean this place up…” — well, Saturday is your chance to be that somebody.

The Tennessee River Rescue is happening Saturday, October 3rd, and thousands of volunteers are expected to spread out across the Tennessee River and its tributaries to pick up trash and debris.

And this is a BIG one. There are more than 50 different cleanup sites around the region, including locations in Chattanooga, Hixson, East Ridge, Soddy-Daisy and beyond. There are options for all ages, and you don’t have to be some hardcore outdoors person to participate.

Last year, volunteers pulled more than 58,000 pounds of trash out of the watershed—including more than 400 tires.

Most cleanups run roughly 9AM to 1PM, although times can vary by location. You’ll want clothes and shoes you don’t mind getting dirty or wet, and bring your own water and snacks.

So if you’ve got nothing going on Saturday morning… go get a little dirty and help clean up the river we all get to enjoy.
