CHATTANOOGA, TN – In a landmark announcement, Erlanger, the venerable 130-year-old health system, has unveiled Dr. Jensen Hyde as its newly appointed Chief Medical Officer (CMO), marking a historic moment as she becomes the first female to lead the esteemed institution.
Renowned for her extensive medical expertise, exceptional leadership acumen, and a proven record of advancing healthcare practices, Dr. Hyde’s appointment signals a pivotal transition towards a new era of transformative healthcare, according to officials.
In her role as CMO, Dr. Hyde is set to play a crucial role in shaping Erlanger’s strategic trajectory, ensuring the maintenance of the highest medical standards across the health system. Leveraging her profound understanding of the dynamic healthcare landscape, she will spearhead collaborations with the institution’s cadre of skilled physicians, nurses, and healthcare professionals, aiming to drive innovation, foster a culture of continuous learning, and enhance patient outcomes.
Dr. Hyde, a board-certified internal medicine specialist, brings a wealth of experience to her new position. She previously served as the Chief Medical Quality Officer for Erlanger Medical Group, as well as a dedicated hospitalist at Erlanger. Additionally, Dr. Hyde holds assistant professor appointments with the University of Tennessee Health Science Center (UTHSC), where she has contributed significantly to the Department of Internal Medicine, including an associate program director role. Her influence has extended to numerous committees, including Pharmacy and Therapeutics, Medication Safety, and Internal Medicine Program Evaluation.
Graduating with a medical degree from the University of Tennessee Health Science Center in 2014, Dr. Hyde further honed her skills through an internship and residency in Internal Medicine at UTHSC Chattanooga. In 2020, she achieved a master’s in public health from Columbia University. Dr. Hyde’s accomplishments have been acknowledged through accolades such as the “Distinguished Women in Medicine” award and the “Top Doctor in Internal Medicine” recognition from Top Doctors. She also secured the title of Resident of the Year at UTHSC Chattanooga in 2016 and has made notable contributions to multiple peer-reviewed journals.
