Chattanooga, TN – In a surprising move, Chattanooga has announced that it will be getting its very own professional hockey team, and the location for its ice rink has been revealed: the current site of The Signal concert venue.

The news has generated excitement among sports fans in the area, who have long been clamoring for a professional team to call their own. The team, which will be called the Chattanooga Choo Choos, and will be part of the Southern Professional Hockey League, a minor league that currently has ten teams across six states in the southern United States.

The decision to put the ice rink where The Signal currently stands was not without controversy, however, city officials believe that the benefits of having a professional hockey team in Chattanooga outweigh any potential downsides.

The addition of a hockey team will bring a new level of excitement to our city,” said the Mayor. “We are thrilled to be able to offer residents and visitors the chance to experience this fast-paced and exciting sport right here in Chattanooga.”

The new ice rink will be built in the footprint of The Signal, with a seating capacity of around 5,000. The team is expected to begin playing in the 2024-2025 season, giving the city plenty of time to prepare for its arrival.

Chattanooga is no stranger to hosting professional sports teams, as the Chattanooga Red Wolves SC, a professional soccer team, currently calls the city home.

However, the addition of a hockey team is sure to attract a whole new group of fans and increase the city’s profile as a sports destination.
