Adele and Ed Sheeran declined King Charles the Third’s invitation to perform at his coronation concert on May 7th.

A source said, quote, “[King Charles] was very keen that they were part of the concert . . . They are titans of the showbiz industry and are quintessentially British but also known across the globe.  It’s such a shame.”

Ed said he was unavailable because he’ll be performing in Texas the night before, so it would be difficult to get to England on time.  Adele didn’t give an explanation.

The concert lineup hasn’t been confirmed, but Lionel Richie and the Spice Girls are expected to perform.  It’s also rumored that Harry Styles will hit the stage too.
