Box Office Recap – 10/18/2021
Horror continues to dominate the box office!
Halloween Kills is available to watch at home, but the latest installment in the Michael Myers saga is making a killing at the box office in its first weekend in theaters.
Universal’s Halloween Kills scared up $50.4 million from 3,705 locations, according to studio estimates Sunday. Expectations were around 30 million. The horror film is also available on-demand via Peacock.
It also easily beat out its main competition! Daniel Craig‘s James Bond pic, No Time to Die, made another $24 million after an underwhelming $56 million opening weekend landing at No. 2.
At the number three spot was Venom: Let There Be Carnage, which, after a record-setting $90 million opening, earned $16.5 million in its third weekend.
The animated sequel, The Addams Family 2, finished the weekend at the number four spot with $7.2 million.
Ridley Scott’s historical epic The Last Duel all but bombed in its opening weekend and finished at number five. With $4.8 million in three days, the film’s positive reviews and strong cast — Jodie Comer, Matt Damon, Adam Driver, and Ben Affleck — weren’t enough to attract the crowds.
