The Boys & Girls Clubs of Chattanooga and the City of Chattanooga’s Department of Community Development have announced a significant transition regarding the Westside Community Center. This summer, the Boys & Girls Club of Chattanooga will open a new facility at the former Westside Community Center site located at College Hill Courts.

As of April 24th, the City of Chattanooga has officially vacated the property, and operations are shifting to the Boys & Girls Club, marking a new chapter for youth services in the area. Meanwhile, the city is preparing to reopen and expand programming at the James A. Henry Community Hub on Grove Street in the upcoming months.

The transition reflects both a moment of reflection on the longstanding impact of the Westside Community Center and a dedication to future growth. City officials expressed confidence that the Boys & Girls Club will continue to serve the community effectively, maintaining the center’s legacy of supporting local youth.

A grand opening celebration for the new Boys & Girls Club is scheduled for this Saturday, May 23rd. The club’s programming is set to commence on June 1st, offering services to young people aged 6 to 18.

The new Westside at College Hill Courts Club aims to provide a secure, nurturing, and enriching environment for youth during after-school hours. The club will implement evidence-based programs focused on six core areas: sports and recreation, academic success, arts, health and wellness, career development, and character and leadership. These initiatives are designed to equip young people with essential skills for life and future employment, fostering academic achievement, social-emotional growth, and career readiness through high-quality activities.
