Chattanooga is gearing up for an extensive street cleaning campaign set to roll out throughout 2026, aiming to enhance neighborhood appearances, promote environmental health, and prevent debris from contaminating local waterways. Over the coming months, city crews will systematically traverse neighborhoods, following familiar routes aligned with garbage collection schedules to ensure thorough coverage.

The program is scheduled to commence in 4 phases, beginning with Area 1 in May. Subsequent areas will be serviced as follows: Area 2 starting June 1st, Area 3 on July 6th, and Area 4 kicking off August 3rd. See visual above. This phased approach allows crews to methodically cover the entire city over the course of the year.

City officials emphasize the importance of resident cooperation in maximizing the program’s effectiveness. Residents are encouraged to relocate vehicles from the street during their designated service week to facilitate unobstructed access to curbs. Additionally, items such as basketball goals, trash bins, and other obstructions should be removed from the roadway ahead of scheduled sweeps.

While the routine street cleaning will proceed according to the timetable, crews will remain available to handle special requests and emergency cleanups outside the standard schedule. The initiative reflects Chattanooga’s ongoing commitment to maintaining clean, safe, and environmentally friendly neighborhoods.
