The Chattanooga Public Library is turning 50, and you’re invited to the birthday bash!

On Saturday, October 17th, the Downtown Library is taking the celebration outside with a FREE, all-day block party packed with live music, family activities, local food, and plenty of ways to celebrate one of Chattanooga’s favorite community spaces.

The party runs from 9AM to 6PM outside the Downtown Library at 1001 Broad Street, and there’s something for just about everyone.

Here’s what you can look forward to:

LIVE MUSIC: Catch performances from local artists and bands throughout the day, including Monocle Jon, Zowie Boyd, Sloppy Street Tacos, and headliner Cuatro Cinco, taking the stage at 5 PM!

FAMILY FUN: Bring the kids for interactive activities, games, creative projects, and more than 30 community partners offering ways to learn, play, and explore.

BOOK LOVERS, THIS ONE’S FOR YOU: Check out the Chattanooga Public Library Foundation‘s popular $5 Bag Book Sale, meet local authors, and explore activities throughout the library’s four floors.

A NEW PLAYGROUND: At 2PM, the library will celebrate the unveiling of its new pocket park playground, followed by complimentary cake and cookies while supplies last!

FOOD AND MORE: Local food options will be available for purchase, so you can grab a bite and make a day of it.

Even better? Admission is completely FREE, and complimentary event parking will be available in the EPB parking garage.

The Downtown Library first opened its doors on October 17, 1976, and this celebration marks five decades of bringing books, creativity, learning, and community together in the Scenic City.

So grab your friends, bring the family, and help the Chattanooga Public Library celebrate its 50th birthday!
