Check Out the “Real” Lightsaber Disney Came Up With

Do REAL lightsabers exist?  Not exactly.

But at this year’s South by Southwest Festival, Disney Parks and Experiences Chairman Josh D’Amaro showed off the next best thing.

It’s a lightsaber with a “blade” that actually expands and retracts, just like the ones in the “Star Wars” movies… and it makes noises like them too.

D’Amaro told the crowd, quote, “I have the coolest job in the world.  I’m holding a real lightsaber.”

Now the bad news:  At the moment, Disney has no plans to sell these things.  For now they’re just being used by some of the actors at their parks and attractions.
