Do You Get Along With Your In-Laws

I was once told that the only difference between in-laws and outlaws is that outlaws are wanted (Bad joke I know). Friction between your in-laws isn’t uncommon or unnatural. According to a study in the NY Post, it is not your fault if your mother in law hates you! Shocking right. A recent study published in the Evolutionary Psychological Science journal found that both men and women report having more conflict with their mothers-in-law (44%) than with their own mothers (39%).  The researchers suggested that these conflicts may be “influenced by genetic conflict” as each person “unconsciously acts in the interest of their genetic kin” instead of in each individual’s best interest. Which is layman’s terms means, ya mama got ya back and not your spouses. So the next time you have an issue with your Mother In Law, it might not be you.
