Legendary singer, songwriter, actress, and cultural icon Dolly Parton has passed away at the age of 80.
Her family announced her peaceful death on August 25th in Nashville, although they did not disclose a specific cause. The news was shared via her official Instagram account, accompanied by a heartfelt video from her nephew Bryan Seaver representing the family.

Dolly Parton’s life was a shining example of resilience, talent, and kindness. Her obituary described her as a radiant figure who illuminated the world with her music, wit, and generous spirit. Her breakthrough came with her partnership with Porter Wagoner, which produced numerous hits like “Jolene” and “Coat of Many Colors,” the latter of which reflected her childhood experiences.
Her timeless ballad “I Will Always Love You,” written as a farewell to Wagoner, became one of her signature songs and later gained international fame through Whitney Houston’s blockbuster rendition in 1992. In addition to her country hits, Parton made a significant mark in pop music, with hits like “Here You Come Again” and her duet with Kenny Rogers, “Islands in the Stream.”
Her acting career flourished in the 1980s with films like “9 to 5,” “The Best Little Whorehouse in Texas,” and “Steel Magnolias,” earning her critical acclaim and Golden Globe nominations. She also produced television projects and launched her own record label, Dolly Records, in 2008.
A dedicated philanthropist, Dolly’s charitable work through her Dollywood Foundation focused on literacy and health initiatives, particularly HIV/AIDS awareness. Her numerous accolades include induction into the Country Music Hall of Fame, the Nashville Songwriters Hall of Fame, and the Songwriters Hall of Fame, as well as the Presidential Medal of Arts and Kennedy Center Honors.
