Food News: National S’mores Day, McDonald’s, & Taco Bell

Today Is National S’mores Day and a Company Celebrated by Stealing a S’mores Record from the Girl Scouts: Today is National S’mores Day. The origin of s’mores is vague, but some people credit it to the Girl Scouts.  In 1927, the Girl Scouts published a recipe in a book called “Tramping and Trailing with the Girl Scouts”, but they called them “some mores.”  The Girl Scouts have also offered several s’mores-inspired cookies over the years. So maybe it’s fitting that a company “celebrated” National S’mores Day by STEALING from the Girl Scouts.  Sort of. A Texas-based company called Solo Stove just broke a Guinness World Record, by gathering 891 people to make s’mores at the same time. The thing is, the record was previously held by the Girl Scouts of Middle Tennessee, who gathered 801 people to make s’mores in 2018.
