Food News: New Menu Items from Wendy’s & Panera…and Red Cups are Back at Starbucks!

WENDY’S LAUNCHES NEW ITALIAN MOZZARELLA SANDWICHES AND GARLIC FRIES: Wendy’s has a new Italian Mozzarella Chicken Sandwich (featuring lightly breaded crispy chicken breast, fried mozzarella cheese, marinara sauce, and Asiago cheese on a toasted garlic knot bun), and all new Garlic Fries (featuring Wendy’s Hot & Crispy French Fries coated in a flavorful garlic herb sauce). You can also opt for an Italian Mozzarella Cheeseburger which includes all the ingredients of the new chicken sandwich, but atop a quarter-pound burger instead of chicken. All three items will be on the Wendy’s menu nationwide for a limited time.

PANERA TESTS NEW BAKERY SHAKES IN SELECT MARKETS: Panera has started testing out new Bakery Shakes in select markets. The Bakery Shakes come in three flavors: Kitchen Sink Shake (Panera cookie pieces blended with caramel syrup, sea salt, vanilla cream and ice, topped with whipped cream and a drizzle of caramel), Fudge Brownie Swirl Shake (Panera brownie chunks, blended with vanilla cream and ice, and topped with whipped cream and a drizzle of chocolate), and the Strawberry Cheesecake Swirl Shake (strawberry puree and cream cheese, blended with vanilla cream and ice, topped with whipped cream and fresh strawberries). You can expect a nationwide rollout of the shakes sometimes in 2023.

STARBUCKS GIVING AWAY FREE REUSABLE RED CUPS AGAIN TODAY ONLY (NOV. 17TH): Starbucks is giving away free reusable red cups today only (Thursday, November 17th). To get one all you need to do is order a handcrafted holiday or fall Starbucks drink (in-person or via the Starbucks app.) But the giveaway is only happening at participating stores while supplies last. This year’s cup design features white ornaments stamped on the red cup, and also has a “celebratory message” on it commemorating the chain’s 25th anniversary of its red cups.
