In The Know with Gino: Miracle League of Chattanooga Opens Registration for Fall Baseball Season
Chattanooga, TN – The Miracle League of Chattanooga has officially opened registration for its highly anticipated fall baseball season, inviting individuals with diverse physical and cognitive challenges to join in the excitement of playing America’s favorite pastime. The league’s mission to provide inclusive and adaptive sports experiences is once again coming to life as players of all ages gear up for a season filled with camaraderie and teamwork.
From September 16th to October 28th, 2023, participants ranging from ages 4 to 99 will have the opportunity to partake in the Miracle League’s heartwarming program. Games and practices are set to take place at the Rotary Field located within the scenic Warner Park in Chattanooga.
The Miracle League’s Rotary Field is a place where abilities take center stage, allowing those with disabilities to bask in the joy of hitting grounders, rounding bases, and sharing smiles with their fellow players. With the belief that every individual deserves the thrill of competition and the camaraderie of teamwork, the league has long been a symbol of unity and support for the differently-abled community.
To kick off the fall season on the right foot, an orientation session is scheduled for September 9th from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. at the Rotary Field. This session aims to acquaint participants and their families with the ins and outs of the league, ensuring a smooth start to the season ahead.
In the spirit of inclusivity, financial assistance is available to help make the experience accessible to everyone. The registration fee for the fall season is $30, and interested parties are encouraged to reach out if they require support to participate.
One of the heartwarming aspects of the Miracle League is the “Buddies” program, where volunteers team up with players to provide assistance and companionship throughout the season. This initiative not only fosters connections but also creates a nurturing environment where everyone can thrive.
For those interested in becoming a Buddy and contributing to the community during the fall season, or for those seeking information on the upcoming Fundraiser Tournament, Robin Sturnes, the contact person, can be reached at rsturnes@ymcachattanooga.org.
Registrations are open and can be completed online or in person at the Downtown Family YMCA, located at 301 W. 6th St. in Chattanooga. To learn more about the Miracle League and its mission, interested parties can call 423.266.3766 or visit the league’s website for additional details.
