In The Know with Gino: The Soddy-Daisy Community Library’s 2023 Summer Celebration is August 19th

SODDY-DAISY, TN – The summer excitement continues as the Soddy-Daisy Community Library (SDCL) gears up for its highly anticipated 2023 Summer Celebration. The event is set to take place from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday, August 19th, at the picturesque Soddy Municipal Park.

Promising a day filled with joy and camaraderie, the Summer Celebration is FREE and open to everyone, regardless of residency. The event not only marks the culmination of the library’s successful Mythical Summer of Reading Program but also serves as an ode to literacy and a platform to support local area nonprofits.

Attendees can look forward to a wide array of exciting activities and attractions throughout the day. From free games and craft stations to an engaging scavenger hunt, there will be no shortage of entertainment. Food trucks offering delectable treats will cater to hungry visitors, while numerous vendors will showcase their unique offerings.

The festivities are set to kick off with a performance from SDCL’s in-house ukulele group, Ukelear Fusion, at both 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. Audiences of all ages will be enchanted by the enchanting puppet show, “The Baby Dragon Manifesto,” presented by Playful Evolving Monsters, scheduled for 11 a.m. and 1 p.m.

As the morning progresses, Tammera Hicks will captivate the audience with her Native American storytelling at 11:30 a.m. The rhythm and energy will soar at noon, when Move N Groove Kids Garvey Program demonstrates the art of Capoeira.

The celebration will take a graceful turn at 1:30 p.m. with a mesmerizing belly dancing exhibition, proudly presented by Jillian’s Healing Arts Center.

This event is all about fostering a love for reading and learning while enjoying a fun-filled day with friends, family, and the entire community.

The Summer Celebration promises to be a heartwarming occasion that brings the Soddy-Daisy community together in a spirit of joy and unity. Families, friends, and neighbors are encouraged to come out in full force and enjoy this fantastic event.
