The Celebrity Beat…
Luke Skywalker’s lightsaber sold at an auction for $3.75 million…which set a new auction record for a screen-used “Star Wars” prop.
This is the lightsaber Mark Hamill used in “The Empire Strikes Back” during Luke’s face-off with Darth Vader. You know, when Vader cuts his hand off and reveals that he’s actually Luke’s dad.
The lightsaber hilt was sold with a fake hand that severs at the wrist. It was designed after Mark’s own hand.
The previous record for a “Star Wars” prop was held by Darth Vader’s lightsaber, which sold for $3.65 million last September.
