After DECADES of people getting frustrated with ripped open cereal bags and messy bacon packaging, BREAKFAST is getting a lot less stale all of a sudden.
First, Cheerios teamed up with Ziploc for a new re-sealable bag, finally…and now there’s an innovation for BACON.
Hormel has unveiled new bacon packaging that separates 12 bacon slices into three sealed portions of four slices each. Unfortunately, none of the portions are fully “re-sealable“… so you still have to deal with any unused extra pieces.
They decided to do it this way because bacon lasts about twice as long if its unopened and vacuum sealed. So even though a re-sealable bag would’ve been more convenient and less messy…the benefit is that the remaining factory-sealed portions of four pieces will last longer in your fridge.
They’re called “Black Label Portion Pack Bacon” and they’re hitting select Walmart stores now. There will be an expanded rollout to other stores next year. Hormel says this new packaging will reduce food waste.
