The Celebrity Beat…
Selena Gomez, her mom Mandy Teefey, and their former business partner are being sued for allegedly defrauding investors of their mental health company, Wondermind.
Two companies claim they invested $1.2 million in September 2022, and were duped into believing that Wondermind had the infrastructure, leadership, and resources necessary to become profitable.
Selena was also accused of ignoring her contractual duty to build the company through social media, advertising deals, and TV appearances.
The lawsuit states, quote, “The partnerships did not exist. The initiatives never materialized. The app was never built.”
The plaintiffs say it was hidden from investors that Wondermind had been quietly collapsing for three years. They didn’t find out there were struggles until there was an exposé published by “The Cut” last September.
They also claim Selena’s mom had a substance abuse problem that affected her ability to run the company.
