Spain won the World Cup yesterday with a thrilling… If you’re a soccer fan, I guess… one to nothing win thanks to a goal by Ferran Torres during extra time, at the 105th minute of the game.

Saturday’s third-place game had way more action, as England beat France 6 to 4 … which is like 749 to 613 in the NBA.

For winning the World Cup, Spain gets $50 million. Argentina gets $33 million for second place, England pockets $29 million for coming in third, and fourth place finisher France gets $27 million.

Yeah, this tournament pays.  Even teams that didn’t get out of the group stage got $9 million.  FIFA is doling out a total of $655 million in prize money, on top of the $1.5 million every team already got to cover their preparation costs.

There were also some celebrity appearances at MetLife Stadium or the New York-New Jersey Stadium, as they weirdly renamed it for the tournament.

They included Matt DamonJay-Z and BeyoncéTimothée Chalamet and Kylie JennerWill FerrellDavid and Victoria BeckhamKevin HartSerena WilliamsJavier BardemJon Hamm, Adrien BrodyRichard GereTrevor Noah, New York Knicks champs Jalen Brunson and Karl-Anthony TownsJulia GarnerJason SudeikisDwyane Wade and Gabrielle UnionRob Gronkowski, and Anya Taylor-Joy.

Damon seemed to be having a good time.  There’s no word how he felt when he was told that Fox Sports announcer John Strong misidentified him as Brad Pitt.

Post Malone kicked off the show with a performance that included a new track called “Chrome Heartbreaker”.

Jennifer Hudson sang the U.S. national anthem. And Tom Cruise showed up to tell us all how awesome this World Cup was.

Then, after a scoreless first half, there was the much-hyped halftime show, featuring MadonnaShakiraJustin BieberBTS, and… I kid you not… Dr. Teeth and the Electric Mayhem playing “Seven Nation Army”.

Some of the other Muppets showed up toward the end, including KermitMiss PiggyElmoCookie Monster, and The Count.

“Ted Lasso” star Jason Sudeikis also made a surprise appearance to hype Bieber up for his performance.
