That Was Then & This Is Now: Jonas Brothers

Twttin 6

Some artists evolve so much that their “Then” and “Now” barely sound like the same people. The Jonas Brothers are a little different.

After nearly two decades of hits, breakups, solo projects, marriages and growing up in the spotlight, they’re back together — and they’re revisiting the era that made them stars while creating brand-new music.

For this edition of That Was Then & This Is Now, we’re going back to 2008.

THAT WAS THEN: “Burnin’ Up”

In 2008, the Jonas Brothers were everywhere.

Kevin, Joe and Nick had become Disney Channel favorites, teenage heartthrobs and bona fide pop stars, and “Burnin’ Up” was one of the defining songs of their breakout era.

The song showed off a slightly more mature sound for the brothers while becoming one of their biggest early hits.

And then, of course, life happened.

The Jonas Brothers eventually went their separate ways before reuniting in 2019 and proving that the brotherly chemistry never really disappeared.

THIS IS NOW: “Listen When Sad”

Fast-forward to 2026, and the Jonas Brothers are still making music together.

Their new song “Listen When Sad” is a brand-new chapter for Kevin, Joe and Nick — while also paying tribute to the sound and spirit that made fans fall in love with them in the first place.

There’s something pretty fitting about that.

The guys who once sang about “Burnin’ Up” as teenage pop stars are now grown men, husbands and fathers, making music with nearly two decades of history behind them.

From “Burnin’ Up” to “Listen When Sad,” the Jonas Brothers have grown up right alongside their fans.

That was then. This is now.
