Food News!

If you’re on TikTok, you know the three categories:  There’s the good, and creative stuff, there’s the bad, rage-bait stuff, and there’s the REALLY WEIRD stuff.  There’s a lot of that.

If you’ve been scrolling TikTok recently, you might have thought, “Why is everyone boiling and eating whole zucchini right now?”

It’s the latest “hack,” and it’s simple:  You boil water and salt.  Toss a whole zucchini into the water.  Boil the heck out of it.  Let it cool. Then add olive oil and salt flakes, and eat it whole, end to end.

Even if you love zucchini, this sounds…NOT GREAT.  But everyone who’s trying it online seems shocked by how delicious it is.  Some also dress it with red wine vinegar, minced garlic, or chili flakes… but others say that’s overkill.

It could be worth a try if you’re looking for a healthier snack… though, be warned, if you’re a texture person, it DOES look pretty mushy.

@myhealthydish I boiled whole zucchini for 10, 15 and 25 minutes. Drizzled olive oil, red wine vinegar added salt. It was really good, but I suggest a 12 minute boil for a little better texture and crisp. #boiledzucchini #zucchini ♬ original sound – My Nguyen
