Trader Joe’s Is Being Sued, Because Their Coffee Isn’t Caffeinated Enough
A class-action lawsuit alleges that Trader Joe’s sold customers coffee with “significantly less caffeine than expected.”
This is just one product: Trader Joe’s-branded French Roast “Low Acid” whole bean coffee. It apparently has HALF the caffeine of typical coffee blends, and it doesn’t mention anything about reduced caffeine on the container. They DO have other decaf coffees, which are marked.
The complaint says, “It is so common that it is now cliché that coffee drinkers depend on the caffeine contained therein to provide them with the energy they need to get through the day. [And] the amount of caffeine [does] affect a consumer’s purchasing decision.”
The suit is seeking unspecified damages, and they also want the “misleading” product be removed from shelves. Trader Joe’s hasn’t commented.
