Google has released its annual “Year In Search” list for 2021 and if people weren’t looking for the worst of the worst of the news they were looking for some mittens from Senator Bernie Sanders.

The term “doomscrolling” was searched more than ever with more of us endlessly absorbing negative news and info, more in 2021 than ever before.

On a positive note though, searches for “affirmations” were at an all-time high.

Senator Bernie Sanders made his mark in 2021. Searches for “mittens” reached an all-time high after the Senator’s appearance at the Presidential inauguration.

The NBA topped the US trending search list, followed by late rapper DMX and Gabby Petito, the influencer whose murder captured America’s attention.

The Top 5 Most-Googled Movies of the Year were Eternals, Black Widow, Dune, Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings, and Red Notice.

When it comes to TV, the five Most Googled Shows were Squid Game, Bridgerton, WandaVision, Cobra Kai, and Loki.

Searches for “COVID vaccine” were higher than “COVID testing” this year, compared to 2020.
