The Celebrity Beat…
U.S. Olympian Jordan Chiles has finally addressed the ridiculousness of the women’s floor exercise final, where she initially finished in fifth then was named the bronze medal winner, only to have it later STRIPPED AWAY and returned to fifth place.
As you’ve probably heard by now, Jordan’s coaches asked for a review, claiming that the judges didn’t grant her the points she should’ve earned. They were right, so she got bumped to third. But later, Olympic officials ruled that the appeal came in FOUR SECONDS too late, so she had to give the medal back.
In a post on social media, Jordan said, “I have no words. This decision feels unjust, and comes as a significant blow, not just to me, but to everyone who has championed my journey.”
She added that she’s received “unprompted racially-driven attacks on social media” and hopes “the people in control will do the right thing.”
For what it’s worth, the third and fourth place finishers were both Romanian, and the Romanians are offering to split the bronze medal THREE ways with Jordan. It’s unclear if Jordan is interested in that or if the International Olympic Committee would allow it.
