The Average American Hasn’t Changed Their Pizza Order in Two Years

Some people are looking to make BIG CHANGES in their lives this year…and that may mean finally trying NEW TOPPINGS on their pizza.

There’s a new poll out on pizza by Talker Research for Tabasco, and it found that the average American hasn’t changed their pizza order in TWO YEARS.  And 14% of people have been eating the exact same pizza for over five years.

Midwesterners have a reputation for being the LEAST experimental with food and that’s true with pizza too.  Of all 50 states, Michigan is the state least likely to spice up their pizza order and 11% of people there say they’ve “NEVER tried a new pizza combination.”  That’s more than any other state.

57% of Americans say they’re open to trying new pizza combinations but “don’t know where to start.”

So what are the boring options people are repeatedly ordering?

In 20 states, the preferred order is a regular old pepperoni pizza. Tennessee is one of them.  In 18 states, it’s a “meat lover’s pizza.”  In eight states, it’s a “supreme pizza.”

In two states, it’s a “supreme and pepperoni“with Georgia being one of them. In South Dakota it’s a “supreme and meat lover’s pizza.”

Massachusetts is the only state that’s off the beaten path… slightly…with a preference for a veggie pizza.

One easy tweak:  Add something a little spicy.  49% of people say that makes pizza taste better.  That can be a pepper, a spicier dressing or dipping sauce, or red pepper flakes.
