Chattanooga Humane Educational Society Celebrates Adoption of Longest Canine Resident, Arizona
In The Know with Gino…
In a heartwarming turn of events, the Chattanooga Humane Educational Society (HES) has announced the adoption of its longest resident, Arizona, a lovable boxer/pitbull mix, who finally found her forever home after an emotional wait of nearly four years.
Arizona’s journey at HES has been nothing short of monumental. With four birthdays and four Christmases spent in the shelter, her story resonated with animal lovers far beyond the local community, garnering national attention from prominent outlets like “The Dodo.”
The shelter’s recent social media post celebrated this significant milestone, stating, “4 LONG YEARS of waiting… Arizona has officially been adopted‼️”
A bittersweet atmosphere filled the shelter as staff, volunteers, and supporters wiped away tears of joy while watching Arizona embark on her new chapter. After spending approximately 1,400 days in the shelter, Arizona left accompanied by her new family, who welcomed her alongside two furry brothers, including her very best friend from her time at HES. The shelter expressed their excitement, saying, “The reunited duo, along with their senior brother, will be one happy trio in this household full of love, laughter, and joy.”
Arizona’s well-being remains a priority, as she will continue her training and support through The Dog Wizard Chattanooga, who have played an integral role in her development during her time at the shelter. The shelter staff noted, “Arizona was loved beyond measure at HES, and her shelter family wishes her and her FUREVER family the best of luck, and the brightest of futures.”
As Arizona begins this new journey, the Chattanooga Humane Educational Society is reminded of the power of patience and love. “We were always rooting for you, AZ!” the post concluded, underscoring the deep bond formed between Arizona and her shelter family.
This adoption serves not only as a happy ending for Arizona but as a beacon of hope for other residents still awaiting their forever homes. The HES encourages the community to consider adopting and giving dogs like Arizona a chance at the life and love they deserve.
