The Chattanooga Police Department has announced that applications are now open for its upcoming Fall 2025 Community Police Academy, a FREE 9 week program designed to give residents an inside look at law enforcement operations.
Scheduled to run from September 11th to November 6th, the academy will take place every Thursday evening at the department’s headquarters located at 3410 Amnicola Highway. Classes will be held from approximately 6 to 8 p.m., offering participants a comprehensive overview of police work through interactive demonstrations and hands-on experiences.
Participants will explore a variety of activities, including simulated driving exercises using immersive simulators, live demonstrations of K9 handling, and insights into investigative techniques. The program aims to foster greater understanding of the daily responsibilities of police officers and how they serve the community.
Beyond education, the academy serves as a platform for community engagement, allowing residents to connect directly with officers, discuss current policing issues, and ask questions about the department’s services.
Applicants must be at least 21 years old, complete the necessary paperwork, and pass a background check to participate. Interested individuals can find more information and access the application form on the department’s website. Applications can also be downloaded and emailed to cpdcommunityoutreach@chattanooga.gov. The deadline to apply is August 29th.
This initiative underscores the department’s commitment to transparency and community collaboration, providing residents with an opportunity to gain firsthand knowledge of law enforcement efforts in Chattanooga.
