Bullfighter Fatally Gored In His Debut Performance

A 22-year-old Portuguese bullfighter tragically died from injuries sustained during his debut performance in Lisbon. Manuel Maria Trindade was participating in the traditional Portuguese style of bullfighting when the animal charged and violently collided with him. Footage shows the bull using its horns to lift and carry Trindade a distance before he suffered traumatic head injuries and cardiorespiratory arrest. He was rushed to a hospital but succumbed to his wounds the following day. Portuguese bullfighting differs from the Spanish version, with the bull not killed in front of the audience but afterward. However, critics argue this approach is even crueler, as the bull is “humiliated” rather than treated as a “fellow warrior.” Animal rights groups and political parties continue to push for a ban on the controversial spectacle.
