TikTok’s Super Viral Trend “The Great Lock-In” Explained

There’s a HUGE trend on social media right now called “The Great Lock-In” . . . and the idea is similar:  You commit to making a change NOW, and carrying it through to the end of the year. It’s supposed to be a way of “fully hyper-focusing on a task, goal, or activity” . . . across the final 100-plus days of 2025.

It doesn’t have to be a traditional “resolution.”  It’s just meant to be a way to shake off the summer laziness, and “lock in” on success for the next few months.

According to “Know Your Meme,” the original “Great Lock-In” posts started gaining steam a few weeks ago . . . and now, a ton of people have joined.  And “joining” publicly is just a way of holding yourself accountable.

Depending on your reach, it’s also a way to get support from followers. Of course, the concept isn’t totally new.  People are pointing out that it’s essentially a rebrand of last year’s “Winter Arc”, “75 Hard”  and several other self-improvement online “challenges” over the years.
